What is JustPeople?
JustPeople provides volunteers wishing to take up roles in the criminal justice system with training, vetting, volunteer placements and ongoing support and development. We work in partnership with a wide range of statutory, voluntary and community-based organisations. All have two common aims:
- to reduce the impact of offending on victims, offenders and their families and society in general,
- and to involve volunteers at the heart of their work.
JustPeople is a UK-wide concept and the first JustPeople hub was set up in 2009 in Plymouth, working with volunteers across Devon and Cornwall. JustPeople now also operates in London, Surrey and Sussex. JustPeople is a project of Pact - Prison Advice & Care Trust – a charity which supports people affected by imprisonment. As a national organisation Pact hopes to expand JustPeople and start new hubs in other regions.
Pact is a volunteer-led organisation with a long history of providing quality services that reduce the negative impact of imprisonment on families, communities and individuals. To find out more go to the pact website.
